I am talking mostly custom backstrips. I am looking for ideas.

Here's one I have on Tassie Blackwood. Blue Paua with b/w purfling lines. I mitered it into the back purfling lines of b/w too.

I don't know how el this shows up but it's wenge with quartered maple in the centre against the quilted flat sawn back.

Here is a relatively simple one and very traditional - I like this style because they mitre into the purfling really well.

Am I right or wrong if I suppose that you routed out the fine channels and laid in all those small strip pieces? Any hints about the routing jig?

Hi Markus, thanks for the compliment. Yes they are individual pieces and each channel was routed with a 1/32" bit, but not by hand. I did it with my DIY CNC machine. Even with the help of CNC it was a lot of work cutting and fitting all those pieces. I like the look, very subtle at first glance, but I don't think I'll be doing it too often.

Thank you for replying.
So this will be a very long term project for me... :roll: (I have no CNC equipment and I'm not planning to get into it).

I needed to stretch the wood on this guitar so I went a bit wider with the back strip.
