First off this is a great site a wealth of information and it's much appreciated.

I want to make my bridge out of cocobolo and didn't know if it's a good or bad idea? Personally I haven't seen many bridges made from coco so I wondered if there were problems with cocobolo as a bridge wood?

Some people have reported problems with glue adhesion and some people are sensitve physically (myself) to cocobolo. I get a rash when I sand this wood and the dust touches exposed skin like my forearms. The only way you'll find out for sure is to try it.... Mikey

cocobolo makes a fine bridge or any other part of guitar for that matter. I build with it often. As said, some may have problems with allergy with it. I use LMI white for adhesive, but never have had a problem with Titebond either. If worried can wash it with acetone.

I'm also allergic to Cocobolo. It's probably good for bridges for those without allergies though.

Welcome to the forum Mark. I have only made one bridge out of cocobolo, and have had no problems with it. I would certainly consider using it again.

Yeah Ken, that bridge looks incredible. I realllllllly like the rusty orange color I have in some of my cocobolo and you've just confirmed for me that I should just use it all the time.
