So the room i keep the guitar wood in is usually anywhere from 40-50%. Well, I noticed today after not looking for a few days, it dropped to 34%. So I put my small humidifier on a few hours ago for the first time in a while...Glad I checked the room a minute ago because it was at 56% already. shut it down. How in the world can i keep it level if the low setting on the humidifier sent it up that high so quick? do I just check it and when its back in the mid 30s turn it on for a bit or just let it settle for the winter at 34-35%? |

I usually have to play around with the dial a lot to keep it at 45-50%. Then once in a long while I come down in the morning find it ran out of water during the night and the humidity is down to 35%...or I come down and I had turned it up too much and it's at 55%. Long as you don't get below 30% for too long you should be OK. |

If your humidifer has no setting for humidity level other than low/med/high, then you need to sort out the setting and possible put it on a timer of sorts to regulate it. Wood thats just sitting in storage is fine at 35% ... its after you braced it at 45 that 35 is possibly an issue .... |

Thanks guys. it is just sitting there so it should be fine. i am trying to get my basement workshop finished so there will be no glueing for a few months at which point i should have the basement pretty steady around 45%. Thanks again! |
