There's snow in the mountains around us but none in the valley. We've got a big Christmas concert tomorrow evening so I'm busy with that this weekend. Fortunately I'm on vacation all week so I should be able to get some shop time! |

24", Phew, I can't imagine dealing with that. We got 1" today and that was enough shoveling for me. I strung up 3 new ones yesterday and have 5 more bodies in the works that I am fitting necks on today. Unfortunately no time for pics, I'm pooped! |

We're at about 20" here near Annapolis...I like it, it's a rare treat for us in the mid-atlantic to get anything besides slush! Computer work today...and I'll do some "real" work tomorrow. Probably get my next steel string started and do a bit more work on the ukes i have going. Trev |

Heard you guys out east were getting pounded. We only have about an inch in SE Michigan. Fortunately you have something to keep you entertained while the wind and snows are mixing it up outside! I have had too many holiday activities to make too much progress. But I did manage to get the end graft mostly done on the claro walnut J-185. Now when I have a break, I can get the bindings on. We are getting hammered in Philly and i have been busy clearing snow off the sidewalks and roofs. I had planned on doing something in the shop this weekend because i been working extremely long hours at work and the snow wiped me out this week. I'm to exhausted to do anything else. And to boot the city of Philadelphia does not plow streets or anything much for that matter. Thanks god i got a 4x4 truck. |

We're right on the edge of the frozen stuff. I talked to a friend in Asheville (NC) which is ~65 miles north west and the got 20 inches. We had an inch, with some ice, but 10 miles south only had rain. It's all melted now. My Dad, 20 miles North got 4 inches of snow and no ice. Our electricity went off for a couple hours Friday night. I was getting ready to spray a 'burst. It would have probably looked funny if I had sprayed it in the dark. I've got the top on a Parlor I'm retopping for a local client. It was a nice little guitar but it sounded like a stick with strings on it. ( I didn't build it) The lower bout is less than 12". It was ladder braced, and had an Adi top that was .120" thick. |

Estimates here range from 13 to 18 inches at various places. Only a few inches in my driveway at this point, thanks to early efforts yesterday. I'm French Polishing and doing final setup for a Reyes flamenco that will be the guitar that goes with me to Spain for the next 6 months - just didn't seem right to take a steel string so I rushed to get this one to serviceable shape. Not proud of the cosmetics - sanding and other touch up could have been better. But all the other classicals have been out the door as soon as they were done, and I needed one to play myself. No pictures - maybe later in the week. |

Ken, I have a 10" duct going out a window and makeup air is 10" flex duct (from a different window facing another direction and 30' away) run through a "Rube Goldberg" electric oil radiator heater to warm up and then passed into the room (filtered) by a 14" inline fan booster (outside the room). I have a second 10" duct opening in the room that can be opened or closed so I can run the replacement air but not the booth and "push" the fumes out of the room. |

We got 2 inches last night maybe more with the wind drifts. Anyone up for snowboarding  ? We have to take advantage of this white stuff when ever we get it.Great vid padma. Would that be concidered a fish eye view? |

Filippo, can you rip that board of flamed maple off your workbench and send it to me?...lol Nice looking guitars fellers. I'm jonesin' last guitar I built was a year ago this month. I'm glad it missed us, the ground is a little white but not enough for the grand daughter to make a snow man. I finally got the box closed on the 000 12 fret and now have 2 guitars ready to cut for binding. The binding and purfling strips are bent and ready, but for some reason I always seem slow down and find excuses not to rout for the binding. My buddy Tim was over today and we jointed his back and glued up the rim and blocks for his Mahogany OM. It sure is enjoyable to see the wonder on someones face as the guitar takes shape. I think we have another builder in the fold, he is hooked, and is using my shop, tools, and templates for his 1st. Next session he will do the kerf lining and radius sand the rim. Fred |

Just shot some quick pix before it went in the box about 1/2 hour ago. This one ships out tomorrow to Carrie Underwood's guitar player. It's his 2nd McKnight. We got just about a foot here. My neighbor had a little plow on his ATV and had the street clear in no time. I have been working the past couple days finishing up dome Christmas presents in the shop. Beyond those, I have a little Ziricote guitar that has been taking its time getting finished. I also have my first baritone at Joe's getting sprayed. The thing I am most excited about is a new old jointer I picked up. I am moving some things around making room and ultimately I hope to gtet a Rikon 25-010, which I think would be perfect for me. In the meantime though I picked up an old Walker Turner 6" off of craigslist that I am really excited about tuning up and getting running again. It is in nice shape for its age and should be a great addition. |

More often than not, Portland Oregon doesn't get snow...but man, the rain has been coming down! There is talk of a little in the hills before it cools down and clears up this week. This time last year we were into the 1.5 to 2 foot range.  Beautiful pics (guitars and scenery)...I spent most my time trying to get shellac to stick to the top of an acoustic bass. A circle about 2" across just won't take! Making a new batch of shellac and we'll see how it goes from there.
