First, bevels. I really like the look and feel of bevels, and I'd like to put one on a guitar sooner or later. Not #1, but maybe #2. In terms of difficulty, where would you rank making a bevel? Also, are there any good books that cover bevels? Or is it one of those qualities that can't really be taught through words? Also, let's talk neck woods for a second. For build #1 I've narrowed it down to either mahogany or maple. For a guy with very little experience, which would you recommend? I chose these for tonal/aesthetic reasons, but I'd like to hear what they're both like to work with. Also, which wood is more forgiving and easier to hide your mistakes with? If it's any help, I'll be making a nice simple OM with EIR back and sides, Sitka top, and ebony fingerboard and bridge. Thanks guys Best to you Dan |

Dan, are you talking about arm rest bevels? If so there are a couple tutorials here. viewtopic.php?f=10102&t=12468&p=173731 viewtopic.php?f=10117&t=15994 I would go with mahogany for the neck, I believe its easier to carve. Good luck! |

You might want to wait for guitar #10 before attempting a bevel, unless you already have some woodworking chops. |
