As the title states I am new to lutherie and this forum. I've enjoyed what I've found so far, and will be here often to educate myself. I'm in the process of building my mini machine shop / work area in my basement and I plan to build several guitars sooner rather than later. I am fortunate to have recently purchased a home made cnc router, and a mini milling machine which I hope to also convert to 3, or 4 axis cnc. I enjoy the barter system for many things, and knowledge is likely my favorite. I'm a CNC Programmer/set-up guy/tool room machinist and would love to offer my knowledge of all things CNC, g-code, multi-axis, CADCAM, fixturing, tooling, machine design, cutting speeds, etc up for anyone who needs it. As a rookie to guitar making and any precision woodworking for the most part, I am lacking knowledge pertaining to new materials, procedures, etc and will likely be on here asking all sorts of annoying questions. However since my strengths are in an area that seems to slowly be creeping into lutherie, I'm hoping my obsessiveness for my familiar trades will help someone in some way, make anything. Regards, Jon |

welcome! You are going to love this place. When i first came around, i gave everyone all the brw they could fit in a first class envelope. you could probably share plans for a cnc router, and pirated software to go with it. just kidding, obviously. you are going to love this place, and everyone that is willing to share their knowledge. |

thanks everyone. Perhaps I'll venture over to the CNC forum and introduce myself there as well. I'm looking forward to making some wood chips. |

Chip is an important word when it comes to wood ![]() Wood machining, in general, is cake except for its propensity to chip and crack. That tendency puts it right behind G10-FR4 on my 'fun to machine' list ![]() |
