I can't believe I've completed 18 guitars. This might be the combination that I would build for my self. Red western ceder on walnut. The top had a lot of figure for cedar. It was a little more floppy than I'm used to but I really liked the sound. 24.9" scale deep body OM with soundport. Ziricote fretboard. Mac ebony binding and radiused arm rest. Oak radial Purfling, walnut rosette and headstock. ![]() Neck - Walnut/oak 5 layer. ![]() Smaller armrest. It does the job for comfort without looking so obvious. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Nice guitar, Steve! The Ziricote fretboard goes well with the Walnut. I have been pondering the different combinations to go with walnut, and have only really settled on Maple and Mac ebony. I think you`ve opened my eyes just a bit. In your opinion, considering the top being a bit floppy, what do you think of the Redwood top in combination with Walnut? I have a Redwood top ready to go, but am apprehensive on the back & sides. I had intended to use Walnut, but thought there might not be enough stiffness overall and might dampen things all around. Ok....that is inspirational. What a beauty and DO like the combination of woods. I hope I can raise the bar for myself on my next build so in comparison mine doesn't end up to look like firewood. I can see I have a long way to go to build a magnificent guitar like this. WOW! Kent |

Thanks guys! Matt - the pins are buffalo horn from Luthier Supplies - Andy DePaul Coe - I think walnut works great with redwood. I build thin tops -this floppy cedar was about 0.090" thick. The bracing is lattice to support it. This was the most floppy top I have used. I was a bit apprehensive about using it. I was pleasantly surprised. I built another one at the same time with a cedar top that was considerably more stiff, and I like the wound of this one more. |

Lots of subtle details, like the armrest. I like the fretboard, too, must take a closer look at ziricote. 18! Makes me wish that I had started building earlier in life. |

Very beautyful guitar, Steve! I especially like the radial purfling - I'm thinking of trying this sometime in the future as well. From the image I would have sworn the fretboard is lacewood - is that really Ziricote? I've never seen Ziricote with that kind of figure (Maybe I need new glasses ![]() Christian |

Sweet guitar! The rosette kinda makes me think of the "blondie" brownies. Yum! Now you made me hungry. Dennis |
