Anyone have any expereince with both of these?

Just wondering if there's a benefit to getting one over the other.

They're both really close in price, with the LMI Schneider Gramil replacement blades being a lot cheaper cost wise.

Thanks in advance for any input.

I have LMI's Schneider gramil. I like it. The blades are a bit difficult to sharpen because they are so short. Sam clued me into using a replacement blade for the Sloan cutter. It works a treat.

I own both, also. The Sloan is from the 1970's and the long blades should last forever. It's handle gives a nice sized area to grasp in your full hand. The LMI unit is lighter and takes a lighter touch (at least with my ham fisted techniques) and the blades are small...almost delicate...when compared to the Sloan unit. I use both depending on the woods I'm scribing and my mood at the time. ;)
