I've used premade necks up until this point, but want to start making my own. My question is, other than those who spend the time digging through lumberyards for acceptable HOG to laminate into necks, where do you buy your blanks from? There are many places to get blanks from. The question is based on a comment John Mayes made in his neck making video. At least at that time he stated that he liked the blanks from LMI because, even though they cost a bit more, they seem to be the best quality. By no means am I looking for people to call on a bad experience and rip a vendor, but rather who do you think has the best quality blanks as well as if you think there is a vendor that is a good value.

Try these folks, I have bought a lot of what they have. At times they have more than other. This is all turning stock so more times than not it is quarter sawn but not always. They did carry walnut and a lot of other things in 4 x 4 stock.

Also try Martin factory the shop. They show blanks somewhere in the $34-35 range.
