Here is a quick video montage I put together of one of my recent Saturday morning guitar building classes at Red Rocks Community College. I thought some might enjoy watching it.

HAHA! That's exactly what we were talking about as I was filming. We joked about how an LMI box could be used as a workbench as well.

Looks like a lot of fun and they are all well trained with good technique using hand tools!

Great job teaching Robbie.

That was a fun video Robbie. It really captures the classes and it looks like everybody
is having a great time learning and building in such a great comfortable environment.

Thanks,

Thanks. I am glad you guys enjoyed it. This is a typical Saturday morning in the shop for us here in Colorado.
Those that bring coffee and/or doughnuts don't have to help sweep up at the end of class. Since I started this policy sometimes it is like the all you can eat buffet at IHOP when I show up for class. laughing6-hehe

Hey Robbie, great video, do you have any information on this class that you're taking at Red Rocks Community College? I'm in Denver, and won't be able to have my own workshop or tools for a little while... just wondering if someone with very little experience could take a class like this, or if there are different classes for different levels of experience? Thanks in advance [:Y:]

Chris,

There are no prerequisites for this class. Just a string desire to make a guitar. I have great teaching assistants and if you can follow instructions you will be fine. You are welcome to come by tht shop anytime to meet me and see some of our work. On Dec 12th from 10-2 we will be having our end of semester open house. It is a great time toc ome see the facilities, meet students and see their work, free food etc. Contact me for directions.

HAHA! That would have to be a big trailer. Occassionally I do travel for classes though. My French polish class is a popular one. Just get some folks together and let me know when to be there. [:Y:]

Nice vid. Seems to be fun there! I'm also studying in a lutherie school. But it's a real course that is a real course that is recognized by the government here like a collegial diploma. So, it's 3 years, but we have many thoerical and pratical classes (technical drawing, some courses on wood itself (structure, acoustic, milling, drying, etc), varnishing, conception, repair, history of guitars and stringed instruments, etc etc). Anyway, all this to say that we're a little groupe (from my year, we're now about 10), and we're always together in the shop, 3 years long, so it's such a nice feeling to work together. And you know, more than learning from YOUR errors, you also can learn from OTHER'S ones laughing6-hehe .

I sent you a pm, and by the way, I love the line - "Just a string desire to make a guitar" - pun intended?
