Ok, I know that band saw blades have been discussed probably ad nauseam!! I had a quick walk through the archives and couldn't quickly or clearly see what I was looking for, so here goes!!

A friend of mine has a new 20" bandsaw that will take up to a 1.25" band. He needs something good for re-sawing back and side sets. My saws are all different so my advise is week in this area. My saw for doing backs and sides is a Hitachi and I run 3" stellite .050 kerf bands on that. My 24" re-saw for spruce and cedar I run 1.25" steel woodmiser bands on that (I can get them sharper but they don't last as long but I can sharpen them myself and they are cheap...) but they are not that great for dry exotic hardwoods as they are aggressive and have a fairly large .080 kerf.

So, what is a good quality re-saw band with carbide or stellite tips in 1.25 inch for doing hardwood re-sawing (What are you using Uncle Bob C..!) and where is the best place to get it?

Thanks

Shane

Yup! The the word is that the Lennox Woodmaster CT is THE blade. Grant Goltz has been using nothing else, since he discovered these blades several years ago.
250 sets of Cocobolo & the blades still cut fine.
I have just acquired a 16" Laguna, so I'll be ordering a couple for myself, this week.

Those are nice saws Dan. I had a good look over Michael Greenfield's when I was in Montreal a year or so ago. He uses there blade on it that I really like but it is about $370 from Laguna for the 165" length my fiend needs.

So, is your saw new? How about a couple of pics!? I told Danny Vincent that I am hoping to pop over and see you guys before the spring is out. I have plans to be in the neighbourhood in early March, so that will be the latest.

Shane the Laguna blades cut great when new but they just don't last. I save them for when I need a fine smooth cut on precious stock. They can be sharpened.

Daniel, I am just about to purchase a 16" Laguna myself. What 16" model did you get and how do you like it?

Hey Edward;
I don't actually have it in my shop yet. A buddy of mine had this one delivered from Laguna & it was damaged in transit. Laguna sent a new one & didn't ask for the damaged one back.
My buddy (Danny V on this forum) is giving the saw to me on "long term loan" if I fix it up.
Since I completely rebuilt my ancient 28" "Union" vertical mill, I figured I could handle straightening out the little Laguna.
Danny has been using his Laguna saw for a couple of months now. Maybe he will chime in. I'm sure he wouldn't mind if you sent him a PM.
