Does anyone have any soundclips of small body classical guitars they have built, or in general? :)

How small are you thinking?

I've got three Torres SE117's in the finishing stages, and one Panormo. It will be awhile till I can get some sound files.

Hmmm, not sure exactly. Modern Classicals, unless a true Torres, are a bit boomy for Baroque music, which I prefer. I would think,12.5 inches! I am thinking of making my own classical but I don't want a "Dreadnought". Baroque guitars are about 9.5 wide, maybe 10" Thats a nice clip Waddy, but is a bit boomy at even 14".

This is a clip and some poor pictures of a 1780 London made guitar ( unknown maker) that I restored a few years ago. It has a lower bout of about 9 or 10 inches. It was one of the sweetest sounding little guitars I've played, strung with gut of course, I think the 200+ year old spruce had something to do with that!

Frei. Your looking at 19th century guitars: certain examples by Torres. Lacotes and Panormos all fit into that small category. Rob (Mckillop) has some clips of him playing his Ambridge Panormo on Utube. There are also a few videos of Lacote and Stauffer copies. Unfortunately the sound quality on Youtube isn't really going to give you a full appreciation of some of the qualities of these guitars. You really need CD quality going through a decent system.

That's an interesting guitar Colin. It has the diagonal bar but just below the soundhole, sort of the reverse of Lacotes bars.
From the photo's i can't make out the type of neck joint. Does it have a dovetail neck joint or is it a good old fashioned nail through the block?

Wow, that guitar has some nice base goin on Colin. Now I wonder if I should attempt steel string/nylon or just nylgut, with a fretted board?

I've made a 623mm small-bodied guitar. Here is a soundclip:
BWV1006a Loure
You might have to copy the link and paste it to your player.

Its lowerbout is about 12 inch wide.

Looks Panormo-esqe. Details! Need details!

I'm polishing my first Panormo right now, I'm anxious to get some strings on it.

Can't get it to play.

What kind of bracing did you use in these?

I wasn't trying to build a replica but an accetable classical to me. The plantilla is a narrowed Hauser and it only shares the same body length and lowerbout width with a Panormo in a book. The soundboard is a set of lighter swiss spruce and 2mm thick with almost no gradient. No scalloping end for harmonic bars and back struts.
