Girls with hand guns! We don't get a lot of that here in Canada.  Adding a cleat to overhang the bench. I like little things that make life easier. I think the last time I used mine I think I screwed it to the bench. The sandpaper on the plane is a good one. Do you sand all your joints? Always Watching and Thanks For the Effort, Danny |

However, most of the time a little sanding like I show in the video gets me that perfect fit before gluing. The girl in the video is deadly with a handgun!  She doesn't miss.

Cool idea Filippo. The design I showed in the video was of one that Stephen Boone uses. He brought his to my shop and I liked it so much I made one for myself. |

Is there any advantage to having a sloped deck for the material, like that more of the plane blade is used so it stays sharp longer? |

I'd say yes to your initial thought plus it puts the cutting action in a shear rather that directly into the edge grain. That would help with avoiding tearout of figured woods as one side of the leading edge of the plane iron is cutting first, followed by the rest of the blade at whatever angle his board slopes. Sure would have been nice to have these video's back when I started, but we still had vinyl records then!

I need a hold-down because sometimes the wood cups, and I only allow 1/2 inch to stick out. You can't do that with this board setup. (Females are on average better shots than men.) |
