Picking up my 6 month old parlour today it seems to have developed a high E string, first fret buzz. I guess the string has settled a little more into the slot. My question to y'all is would you be inclined to, fill the slot with CA and re file? Shim the bottom of the nut by possibly gluing a thin piece of paper to the bottom? The other 5 slots seem pretty right on. The last choice would be to make a new nut? Not to bad of a choice as it appears I could use the practice. Of the first two choices, which do you think would be the best quick fix? I don't have time to make a new nut right now and need the guitar for the next couple of weeks. Thanks In Advance, Danny |

try a little bone dust and CA, then refile .. I also shim the odd one when repairing if its not a high end guitar ... I like to use the maple coloured fibre paper, 10 thou, looks almost like bone in colour and is practically invisible .. thats usually all you need height wise - |

The ultimate material for this is what dentists use for fillings, but you need a special high-intensity light to cure it, which is expensive. Check out frets.com to see Frank using the stuff. One of these years I'm going to invest in it. They say it's great for finish repairs, too. |

Are you sure that the buzz is not a neck issue? A backbow could do this. If you are positive it is the nut I agree with Tony that a little bone dust and CA are a quick fix. |

If you shim with paper, do not bother to glue it. It is not necessary and inhibits adjustment. |
