My First build " mando" I just got advise on how to get my pics on here so i am posting pics of my first mandolin build . I am open to any critique that people would like to offer . the sound is better than i expected from my first and the sustain is quite good . Obviously my "finishing " needs work |

Bracing shots , was strictly guessing . I did scallop the long braces in the center after this shot was taken , and added another center brace about 1" behind hole scalloped like the others. Tail block is approx 5/16" thick . and top is .120 back is .125 sides .120 so its lil heaver than normal . I have wondered if the deep back area , "from sound hole to tail piece " is what helps with the sustain and sound , is that where i "lucked out" cause it wasnt by plan ! ![]() |

Congrats on your first build! If it sounds good, then you must have done good work! ![]() One tip is to use an old toothbrush and some water to cleanup glue squeeze out. This helps make for prettier joints on the inside of the box. Trev |
