My First build " mando" I just got advise on how to get my pics on here so i am posting pics of my first mandolin build . I am open to any critique that people would like to offer . the sound is better than i expected from my first and the sustain is quite good . Obviously my "finishing " needs work |

Bracing shots , was strictly guessing . I did scallop the long braces in the center after this shot was taken , and added another center brace about 1" behind hole scalloped like the others. Tail block is approx 5/16" thick . and top is .120 back is .125 sides .120 so its lil heaver than normal . I have wondered if the deep back area , "from sound hole to tail piece " is what helps with the sustain and sound , is that where i "lucked out" cause it wasnt by plan !

Congrats on your first build! If it sounds good, then you must have done good work! One tip is to use an old toothbrush and some water to cleanup glue squeeze out. This helps make for prettier joints on the inside of the box. Trev |
