I'm not on Lee Valley's payroll, though I have done a pre-sales evaluation of one of their honing items. Lee Valley is offering a pair of miniaturized tools that have value for the luthier. One is a tiny, but fully functional shoulder plane. The other is a very small dual- wheel marking gauge. I have used a wheel gauge as a gramil and the shoulder plane at 1/4" blade width can be a nice clean up tool for binding ledges. There is no compromise in quality here. Robin Lee notes that these two tools were made to test some of the limits of their manufacturing assets. There is an introductory offer. I'll try to link, but I got the word because I am a regular(put mildly) customer. That is a great little plane! And at only $30 I'm likely to buy one soon. I'll have a look at it next time I'm in the store. Might even be Monday... |

Gadgets! Gadgets! Get your Official luthiers Gadgets right here! Ya, Me sure they are the highest quality gadgets that do what ever it is they do. And you bettchya there be a few duders out there that can really lay down the bucks to do it. Butchyaknow, in the last analysis, those that can, gonna do, with or without the gadget.
