hello again just got my 1/2 ton press today and the (downpin?) is not square ive took off the cap and placed a ruler in against the cog side and its aiming towards the front of the tool could i file the edge under the cog so it would square up or could i put a wedge in instead .. i seen somewhere a wedge being used on the cap side but im not sure if that was just for tightning it up or for squaring ? i dont want to risk loosing a tight fit as the downpin is going to be going down farther than normal any ideas thanks everyone |

where did you get it ? Most of these I see sold are less than stellar in quality. A good one will have an adjustment for square . Check your paperwork that came with it , you may find how to adjust it. |

Why does this really matter when the fret press attachment is on a swivel? (like this one) So, if the press bar is cocked a little forward or backward, it should not matter. You will get a small amount of force reduction, and a very small amount of lateral force, but seriously, I doubt you would know it. BTW, the press in the link above is the same one that HF sells without the stop bar and the fret caul (and the red paint). Mike |
