I figured that I better show this one before I put any more nicks in the WCR top. So, here's my take on an OLF Swap-meet guitar. Walnut back and sides from Brad Goodman. WRC top and curly mahogany binding from Rich Fry (fryovanni) Mahogany neck blank from either Hibdon or the Zootman, I can't remember which one this exact blank came from. Red spruce top braces from Colonial. Technically they were an add-on to a swap-meet order, but who cares. ![]() Woodcraft provided the macassar ebony for the bridge and fretboard, EIR for the rosette and padauk for the neck and tail blocks and the back braces. Stella shaped body with my own X bracing and a short (22.875) scale. The fretboard has a compound radius (12 to 20), with faux binding with inlayed purfling. (Yes I do have a CNC machine, but one look at the rosette or backstrip and you already knew that. ![]() This is my second version of this body style. The first was sitka and sapele with mahogany for the blocks and back braces. It had a surprisingly full strummed sound and sounded OK played finger style. This one has a mid-range focused strummed tone, but the finger style sound is nice and sweet. Is it the tops and backs or the padauk braces and blocks. I guess I'll have to build a bunch more to figure that one out. They do it with car pictures all the time, but it doen't seem to translate to guitars. Thanks for looking, Bob |

Bob brought the body to this one (Or it's sister) out to the OLF SC get together... It is something else when you get to see it in person. The inlay work is something to behold. Take a close look at that back stitching... That isn't a glued in seam piece... It is something like 50,000 itty bitty paper thin pieces inlaid back and forth across the back seam! Thanks John |

Yes indeed. That body is really great, in person, and unfinished. Great job Bob! Glad to see it finished. It's a real beauty. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Thanks guys. I'm really liking the ease of playing a short scale. At some point I'd also like to build a version with a standard scale just to what the difference in tone is. Bob |
