Hi all, Just in case you haven't noticed, Planet Waves are now selling their Humidipaks again after recalling them for leakage issues. I didn't get the chance to try them prior to the recall but if they work as advertised they strike me as a significant development in humidity control for guitars. I've ordered a kit to try this winter. They now state that the humidpaks will maintain the humidity inside the guitar and case at 48% RH rather than 45% RH (which is still a good set point). In Ottawa, we get dry conditions during the winter and humid conditions during the summer with not too bad conditions spring and fall. So I'm hoping I can get by with two sets of humidipaks a year to take care of the extreme seasons. I'd be interested if any others have had the chance to give these a try and, if so, your impressions. Thanks, Pat |

I think they will eventually wind up in the museum of bad ideas. TJK |

I had one of the early ones Pat and it was a lot of trouble to use, at least in my hands. If high humidity was a constant problem maybe, but it just seemed like an over engineered solution that was clumsy to use. Might just be me. Others may swear by it. Please report back after you've used yours for a while Pat, maybe the new ones are easier to use and work better. Terry |
