Hi Guys I have a really annoying string buzz on my new build Bouzouki. I realise it's difficult to determine the cause without seeing/hearing the problem but you never know, one of you may have some experience that might just give me an idea of what to do. The Bouz is strung up GDAD for irish style. The buzz is on the G string and goes all the way up the board when fretted. It does diminish slightly as it gets up to about the 10th fret and beyond but it is still there. As it stands it is unplayable. The buzz is too pronounced and not nice at all. The frets ARE level I have made TWO saddles - same problem on both Neck relief is good - If I give more relief than usual she still buzzes Strings ARE pulled tight to bridge plate The saddle is rounded The Nut is good I even took off the bridge and re-glued it as this was the last thing I could think of. The thing thats really bugging me is that it's all up the fretboard but ONLY on the G strings (both of them) Any ideas?? Thanks Mat |

I would check 3 things: 1. Make sure the machine heads are seated and nothing is loose. Screws, nut etc. 2. I assume your instrument is double strung, 2 G strings, if they are set too close they will cause this problem. 3. If appropriate for your instrument, sometimes you will get a buzzing from the tail piece, so it's also a good place to check. I'd need to have a look at the instrument at this point. |
