My restoration of the old guitar is moving along. Top removed ...new top cut and ready for install and old Fingerboard needed a little work. I chose to try to redo the original fretboad because of its unique beauty. String wear indentions between frets made me pull the frets and I re planed the fret surface down just enough to rid the indentions. There are still fret slots, so I only need to resaw slightly deeper to reinstall new frets. I would like to use a black/maple thin laminate between the fret board and the neck to raise the fret board back to its original height. This would also give me an edge detail that would match my new black/maple laminate peghead redo. Does anyone ever glue fretboards on necks using wood laminates in between? Any problems or strength issues doing this? I assume you need to glue the laminates to the fretboard first, trim/scrape to fretboard edges and then glue to the neck? This way you only have minor basic glue cleanup on the top. Kent Bailey |

No reason that wouldn't work fine. |

I've done the same thing often.... No problem. |

I'd stay away from glue with water in it though. You can get some serious cupping. |
