Hi all. Ok so now I am on my way to start the adventure of sprayguns/compressors. idunno .
Was thinking of the Sata minijet 4 as it only uses an airconsumption of 105 Liters/min. "I think"
I just bought a little compressor that I mainly had in mind for inlaywork. But then I was thinking it might even work for spraying the guitars.
its specs are : Air consumption 130 liters/min, 8 Bar, 24 liter tank. 1.5 HP (230V) "motor is capable of 200 liter/min"

So, any suggestions on how this would work ?.

which pretty much sums it up. You can get by with a compressor that's way too small if only spraying one guitar at a time. I prefer a regulator at the gun, reguardless of compressor size. A smaller compressor will run more, and build up more heat. A good moisture filter is a must.

Lars, I prefer the oil compressors with the belt drive from the motor. They are much quieter than the oiless and last forever treated properly. I used a 20 gallon for years with a Sata minijet, and come to think of it still do. My 60 gallon (also oil) is reserved for the D/A.

I have a similarly powered oilless compressor with a larger tank (50 liters), and I can spray 2-4 coats with a SATA minijet without the before the compressor triggers; the motor fills the tank faster than the gun uses it. I use the same compressor - with a basic venturi - for vacuum clamping, and same there; compressor shuts off while it's running, stays off for a while, then comes on again, and then repeats.

I been using a syphon feed spray gun and i have a hvlp gravity feed spray gun and I use a 1.2 HP Campbell Hausfield 20 gal compressor and it works fine for guitars and wood working projects. Now if i were spaying a car i don't think the HVLP gun would work to well with this set up...Mike
