Post subject:  What Videos would you like to see made?

I have 2 new videos on the way and soon to be on YouTube. One is on Dovetail neck sets , and the other on inlay process . I am having a great time with these and want your input , so let me know what you would think to be more beneficial . If it is possible , we will try and get them on for you. Glenn LaSalle is my video production man and he has done a marvelous job and he has a helper Dean Baer . Dean is a nationally know artist and his web site is worth a peak . http://www.deanjbaer.com/
Thanks again for the response to the videos.

People are always asking me about CA pore filling. I don't have the capability to make videos. Maybe you could do one on that. There's all kinds of videos for all kinds of stuff but I've never seen one on CA pore filling. Keep up the good work John.

John, I think your videos are great! Thanks for taking the time to make them. How about one on finishing? From pore filling to final buffing

Thanks,
Sondre

I could benefit from a video on how to clean a basement. I'd even volunteer my shop if you need somewhere authentic to film it.

Recently I've been interested in how to do things with minimal tools. I dont have much space or a lot of money, so i dont have the luxery of, say, using a drum sander to thickness my materials. Hell, i dont even have a bandsaw. I have a book that explains a lot of it, but video tutorials are a huge bonus.

Cutting neck mortise and tenons, dovetail or straight, jigged up for routers or freehand with saws and chisels. I don't think I'd ever get enough of seeing various people's ways of doing this.

im with marcus on this one
me being an ametuer with hardly any tools
as i dont have a drum sander or bandsaw or deep throat calipers
i do have a 6" belt sander and a record no.5
and i was thinking of making a jig using a handsaw held in with screws
so i could accuratley final thickness the wood
(anyone done this?)
as thicknessing is one of the most daunting tasks that i have to do
at the moment
thanks

John my friend. I'm with Chuck. I think one of the most helpful videos to see would be the all important job of neck carving/ making. Whether it be hand carved or carved with the use of routers, lancelot or jigs it would be most helpful to see how you do it. The volute is optional. After all the neck is half the guitar. In my book it's tone then playability and looks last.

I would like to see an "Effects of Tone Bar Placement" sort of deal -- different placements and hear the differences in sound output.

Thanks

How about a video on making a bridge, fitting it to the soundboard, drilling the holes and cutting the taper for bridge pins, glueing the bridge. Another possibility is finishing out the headstock (binding, drilling, shaping, fitting tuners. Last, shaping, fitting, and cutting slots in the nut and saddle.

I know a lot of builders cut their teeth doing repair. I'm not one of them. I guess I could give it a shot, but I'd be flying blind. The other day I needed to get out a bridge plate I'd put in poorly. I made a mess of it. I agree with the neck people, but I'd also like stuff on repair / fixing screw-ups.

I have to admit , that while I can carve a neck , I have a friend with CNC . I can put the bridge on the list on how to make one. I like the minimalist tool techniques to. We shot 2 vids last week on neck setting a dovetail and inlay. I have quite a list if things to do. I will try and fill as many as we can .

The use of radius dishes is still not clear to me - so a introduction to the back and top geometry would be useful.
