Greenman : You don't need all those jigs to do the mortise and tenon.I do both of them on the table saw and they can be done with hand tools if need be.Because of the requirements for playability you have to build about a 1.5 degree back angle at the neck connection to make things work out ok. Suggest you get a good reference book and read it thoroughly and understand all the concepts before undertaking your project.When I first started to built one of the things I caught on to real fast was the need to know the consequences of every step you completed ie how did it effect the next step and any additional steps.In other words always try to think ahead.Good luck with your project. |

Bill, You can do it by hand as was suggested. The jig comes in handy in a production/classroom enviornment and increases accuracy and precision. However, if you don't have a dog then hunt with a cat. Happy Building! |
