Hey everyone, Has anyone had a Colt get progressively less accurate over time? Mine was tight at first but now there is a lot of slop in the shaft, I can wiggle it back and forth. I have taken it apart and looked for something to tighten but I am not that familiar with motors and didn't see anything obvious. I don't have a problem purchasing another, this one has served me well for a few years but I would prefer to fix it if I can. Thanks |

my guess is worn bearings Burton .. that s what holds the whole motor/shaft assembly together and keeps it tight. |

I would think your bearings are worn or have moved apart on the motor shaft depending on which way the shaft is wiggling. Is it up-down movement or is it sideway movement of the shaft? If it's sideways, the bearings are bad.If it's up-down movement , you might be able to correct it by pressing them more together on the motor shaft as they may have slid causeing the play.If the bearings are bad, they can be replaced by removeing the armature and seting it in the freezer overnight , then useing a puller to remove them.Do the reverse to install the new ones.Useing the freezer will shrink the shaft enough for the bearings to slide off.But before you do this check and make sure the play isn't in the housing that holds the bearings. |

Thanks Mark and Tony! It is the bearings, the play is side to side. I will go for that fix Mark, thank you for the info. I bought another in the meantime but when the first is fixed it will be nice to have 2! Thanks again. |
