| Post subject: | How much wood under double acting truss rod? |
Question: Wondering how little wood can be left under the channel of a double-acting truss rod (from LMI) and the back of the neck (mahogany) before things get too thin and dicey? I would like to shape my next neck a bit thinner (keeping the same thickness fingerboard) but I don't know how thin is too thin.... Thanks, Peter Z |

I had the same problem on a telecaster neck with a stewmac hotrod. It was one piece maple with the rod only around 1/8" from the fingerboard and once shaped the skunk stripe was not thick enough to take the weight of barely any force from the rod. |

An eighth of an inch is the minimum. |
