I braced a top and finished the rims. This is getting alittle easier with all of the help here in this form, still a bunch of fun!

Motorcycle accident? Hope not. How long until you'll be able to walk on it again?

Me, I've been working on my first classical guitar - fretboard done and ready to glue onto the neck now.

Also, I re-worked my "bolt-in" neck MJ (increased the neck angle - made and fitted a new shim) and took it along to the Northern California Luthiers (NCAL) meeting for show and tell today.

This NCAL meeting, we had a great lecture by Roger Siminoff, who extolled the virtues of tap tuning (not tap tone). Excellent stuff! If you ever get a chance to see him lecture (on Lloyd Loar or Tap Tuning), do NOT pass it up (IMO).

Dave, You guessed it! Motorcycle indeed. Hopefully will be mobile in a few weeks. Thats a great looking classical there.

I roughed out some necks, my first 3 wood lam, and a mahogony, I think its sapele; whatever.

I think i'm going to build 2 at a time this time, twise the speed and twise the errors. We are going for it. I have a "Carter Redwood" top that i'm doing a rose classical style inlay rosette in.

I'm doing it in steel string I dont care, its a gift for a family member. Indian rosewood binding, Mahogany B/S. With the lam neck I'm looking at a indian rosewood B/s set with some sort of top not yet figured out yet. Something with nature again.

Busy weekend.

Went down to Columbia to meet up with a bunch of good guys to talk Guitars
Transferred my fermenting muscadine wine out of the bucket into the carboy.
Continued roughing out the neck for Oakie.

Dreamt about moving into the house we put an offer on...

My Wife and I met truckjohn!!!!!!!!!! and a bunch of other really nice people at JR Halls. Our beagle had 1 puppy. I buffed a guitar and installed the neck. It's ready to fret, but I got lazy.

Added: I planned on cleaning the clutter off my workbench for a picture in the "what's on your bench" thread, but again, I got lazy

I had some vintage guitar fun Saturday. Played a 1940 Martin OM, light as a feather and loud. A 1947 Gibson L-5, a 1951 L-5, a Gibson Super 300. I could have played a D-Angelico, but was too shy to ask them to open the locked glass display.

Also fitted and glued on the braces for my archtop project.

Sure that wasn't a 000? "Pre-War" Era, I think OMs were only manufactured 1929 - 1933

spent Friday night in the hospital after getting stung on the tongue by a bee... stupid. Saturday was a day to relax and Sunday cleaned up shop so i can actually find my tools!

Finsihed building Chris Paulicks rosette pieces cutter. I used it to cut wood (not shell). I built my first rosette with it, and used the zipflex shell.

I have to tell you, now that I have my cutter made, I will just use ablam. At $32 a strip for zip flex, and mostly needing two for a rosette, I just cannot justify the cost. It is easy to use. But there are only two widths. They have their place. Especially as thin purfling.

Too funny, Lance! Have to admit I wasn't much into KISS even though I was in high school during their hey day. I did buy tickets over the weekend to see Dylan at the Fox in November. On the luthiery front, I got the ebony fingerboard for the mad rose OM thicknessed, slotted, radiused, and inlaid. Still need to bind it yet. Taking the wife to see Brandi Carlile at The Michigan this evening, so binding will have to wait for another night.

This weekend I put #1 back on the bench for more work. I've played it for about 3 weeks Removed the pickguard I didn't like and replaced it with a clear one. I had originally wanted the the 'hand finished furniture glow' kind of look but it just didn't work for me on a guitar so I hand buffed out the guitar body with Novus #2 which brought up the gloss quite a bit. There was a small spot on the headplate where I sanded through the finish so I managed to get about 5 coats of WB lacquer brushed on that so it can cure. When I get it back together I'll do a final setup/intonation on it and then I think I can let this one rest and move on to #'s 2 and 3. I just ordered a 14Fret Drednought mold from John Hall for #2, a Koa/Adi dred, and #3 will be a Bubinga/Euro OM with cutaway.

I took my son to one back when they had only been around for a few years, and it was, without comparison, the best show I have ever seen in my life, before or since. Those guys really know how to make a spectacular event out of their concerts!

Put the tuners on, leveled and crowned the frets, shaped the nut and saddle.

Whoa Edward.... I know exactly what you're going through. My lovely wife and I were t-boned on our motorcycle a little over 3 years ago by a stop sign runner. I'm believing for a speedy recovery for you!

Back on subject.... I built a series of new jigs for my new bridge design and did a thorough shop cleaning. Also put a new caliper on my lovely wife's car.
