Just wanted to say I had a great time over at Jim Hall's place today for the OLF SC get together.

The guys brought some really beautiful guitars out... Stuff I certainly would have been proud to have. They even put up with me bringing out my Retopped Esteban.... though no one wanted it too close to their guitar for worry if Esteban rubbing off on them....

I didn't bring a camera, but I hope some of the pix will surface.

Thanks all

John

I enjoied meeting everyone. It's nice to put faces with names. I hate we left early. One of our dogs was having puppies and my Wife wanted to get back. "Katie" our female beagle had only one. She's barely a year old but her and the pup seem to be fine.

The Gathering at Jim's place was great. Nice folks and beautiful guitars. Some of these guys don't post much here, but exhibit immaculate instruments that sound really wonderful Experiments with various bracing schemes, new ideas, incredible detail in design, and excellent craftsmanship, were passed around and played. Then add the "down to earth", John Hall, showing us all how to remove a neck and reset it, throw in a few burgers, and dogs, and friendly conversation, and you have a really fine day of camaraderie.

Many Thanks to Jim Hall and his wife for sharing thier home with us for this event, and thanks to John Hall for taking his time to come down and do demo's for us. It couldn't have been nicer.

+1. Jim and his wife were wonderful hosts and his "identical cousin" John put on some great demonstrations. The group was great and the guitars were even better.

Thanks for taking the time to organize the event.

I echo everyone's comments... it's great to get together with people who share your passions, and share ideas with them.

Thanks Jim and John!

You are very welcome to everyone!

And you are welcome back any time in the future.

If everything works out, I'd like to make this an annual event.

Many thanks Mr Sprouse for the Pottsville brew. I had a great time but today ( Sunday ) I spent 12 hours on the ride home. I stopped to see my buddy Steve Robison of Colonial Tonewoods. We had a nice visit and the 95 corridor was typical. I am very pooped and to my best friend and his wife Cindi Thanks for opening your home to us string happy box builders.
Waddy , I enjoyed our time together. Your guitars are outstanding. To all that came thanks and I hope I gave you something you can use and again , thanks for coming. The enthusiasm of the group was fantastic. It is a pleasure to connect a face to the names we have been dealing with for so long.
Jim, it was a pleasure.
See you all next time and I hope to do an open house at my place next year in spring

I gotta say, this group has built some spectacular guitars.

We see pix of someone's guitars here every day, but never get to put our hands on them to play -- how do they sound, how do they play?

Well.... Playing them was even better than looking at them online...

It was the 1st time I have ever held 15 custom hand built guitars in my life... and it was great.

Oh..
John, I have never seen anyone inlay a tailblock.....

If I could get the hang of inlaying a regular, boring DOT into a fretboard... I would be happy.

Thanks

John

I also wanted to say thanks to Jim for the hospitality. The shop looks great! Also thanks to John for the demos and the stories. Those inlay tips have got me ready to give it a try, but I don't think I'll attempt a "Pearlzilla" any time soon!
It was great spending the day with such a fine group of people. Judging from the quality of the instruments passed around I'd say we have some very talented folks down in these parts. I hope we can do it again next year.
