I planed the back and soundboard to approximate thickness. I then sanded by hand down to roughly about 2.5-2.6mm on both pieces. However since I do not have a drum sander my thickness is a little bit inconsistent. I'm talking tenths of millimeters here. My question is this....When it comes time later in the build to route channels for binding will this inconsistency in thickness be of any detriment? I can't imagine anything, but then again this is my first guitar . |

Yes, you have nothing to worry about. My tops vary in thickness at the edges from about 1.6 - 1.8 mm, and are tapered from the center out from 2.5 to the varying edge in the lower bout. It creates no problem. My back is also a little thicker in the middle than at the edges. I know I am not consistent, as I also thickness by hand. |
