my friend Luke came for a visit from far away Australia and being the serious "camera man" that he is, many pics where taken wherever we went. while taking him up north we stopped by Boaz's shop... on the way we passed the sea of galilee/sea of tiberias/you name it... ![]() upon arrival to Boaz's shop we were greeted with his home roasted black coffee ![]() some home made spirits : ![]() and lots of music... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() and we concluded our trip with a short climb and a view over to Syria: ![]() |

Nice pictures, Udi. I will never forget crossing from Syria into Israel, it's like going from the desert into an oasis. One of the most jarring experiences of my life. It was many years ago, but it appears little has changed in 45 years.. Israel still beautiful, and Syria is still a desert! |

Udi you forgot Kinneret for another name of the Sea of Galilee. I tried to meet up with Boaz when I was in Israel, but he was in the US, go figure. Thanks for the mitzuyan pictures L'hitra'ot, Matt |

Udi, looks like boaz does great work Can you tell me about the sound of the guitar with the side soundport only. I guess it sounds great to the player, what does it sound like in front? |

I guess it sounds great to the player, what does it sound like in front? to my ears, Boaz's guitars have a very unique tone that comes along with their unique look(for better or worse...). i find them all to have incredible volume and sustain, as well as very focused and tight bass - the bass strings always remain clear and "precise", never muffled sounding. the first thing i noticed when i sat in front of Boaz as he played one was it's almost hi-fi quality. i felt like i was sitting in front of a good loudspeaker that not only "spoke" at a clear voice but also made it feel like the air carrying the sound was "hitting" me in the face - i could "feel" it and not just hear it. now, volume and presence isn't all that a guitar needs to posses. but tone, especially on a nylon stringed guitar is very subjective i think. this surely isnt a sweet sounding spanish guitar(though Boaz has several incarnations of this design, and they seem to be getting more and more "spanish" sounding). i think Boaz's guitars dont et too much attention BUT here's a review published on "guitar player" mag. a while ago that goes a bit more in depth about the guitar. http://boazguitars.com/article.htm also, since the passing of Mr.Richard Glick of Fine Guitar Consultants, Boaz's guitars are now being sold through Dream Guitars. the cool thing about Dream Guitars is the cool sound samples. i'd suggest you check them out too. http://dreamguitars.com/search.php?q=boaz&Submit=Search |
