My wife likes to make up names for my guitars hence the title. After what Al Carruth said, I couldn't pass up this piece of QS Red Oak. Sitka top, Cherry neck, Palo Escrito bindings and headplate, Wenge, Maple and Purpleheart purfs and rossette. Macassar board and bridge. And as always, we'll have to wait for Joe Desparado or John Ressler to play it to get the official word on the sound, but even with my fumble fingers and being freshly strung, I think I've got a winner. I did start taking guitar lessons so now I'm only 40 years behind those guys. |

Super clean fiddle, Steve. Love the checkered headstock. You are really cranking them out. Are you doing the finish work, too? |

Well how do Mr. Steve, I'm doing the finish work because I can't afford Joe. Of course if I built fewer guitars I could afford Joe, but then what would I do with all this wood. The finish is nitro on the body and Truoil on the neck. I think it took 3 ounces of CA to fill the pores on this one. The downdraft sanding table is a blessing when using CA for pore filling. |

Chubby is lookin' good Steven ! I like the checkered binding and rosette along with the Oak. A very cool guitar! I like Tru-oil on the neck too. Do you buff the neck with micro mesh pads ? I find that really makes the neck sooooo smooth. |

Hey Dave, Micro Mesh is my friend. I applied 12 coats of TO, MM'ed to 4000 and then 2 really thin coats of TO. Smooth as silk! I forgot to thank Colin Symonds for posting the pictures of his neck joint. That's what I used on this one. Thanks Colin! Here is a better pic of the rosette and binding. I'm not a photog by any stretch. One more thing to learn. |

Beautiful guitar, the rosette checker design makes me think of the UK police. It could be a nice gift for a singing policeman ![]() Bill S. |

Thank you for the support guys. I almost abandoned the checker theme, but when I put the purpleheart purfling in it all came together. The pics just don't do it justice. I'll have to go over YJ John's photography 101 post again. Steve |

I love all the checkered accents on this guitar, too. Just the right contrast for that big expanse of natural, pale wood. A very nice execution of a great concept! |
