| Post subject: | Tortoise Binding as Purfling? |
Has anyone used a piece of tortoise binding that has been cut down for purfling on the top? I thought that it might look good... or would it be tacky...? Sometimes its hard to know if an idea is a good one... |

steve I have on seveal. Used bwb on each side, then same configuration for the rosette and butt wedge. I have on one used it with maple/ebony purf on each side of it and then used tortise binding along with the tortise purf as noted. I have used it with coco, snakewood, eir and koa binding also. |

I have done it, it looks cool. I find it works best if you keep the thickness as small as possible without sanding through. It let's more light reflect through it. |

And for "bonus bling" try backing it up with either gold or siver leaf. Makes even more reflection and the gold, especially, adds a warmth to the tortoisoid. |
