I know some of you will think I'm crazy (I am a bit) but my family is starting to think about Christmas time and gifts. So, I'm trying to think of ideas. Anyone got some good ideas for things under $30????? Luthier Specific or tools... I'm hoping this will also help other's for task specific items, where to find them etc... |

Rod, its nice to have extra card scrapers on hand so you don't have to stop and freshen up the one you are working with. |

Did you get the stew-mac catalogue with the 12 "essentials" for under $40? |

i haven't looked through their catalogue in a whlie, but i bet that lee valley must have a wack of great gifts for under $30. and if you have a princess auto store near by, $30 could nearly fill the shop! (need to be careful about quality when buying at p.a., but there are some sweet deals available - like the 12" bar clamps that work as well as my pony and cost me all of $1.88). phil |

Sitting right beside the 12" ones that first caught my eye. The work OK, but not when you need them really tight, but for $2.50 they work well enough! Phil, we really do need to meet up one of these days. I mean, you were probably standing beside me a PA, looking at those clamps, and I didn't even know it! |

My Bro -In - Law jut gave me a copy of Tony Mcmanus's latest CD, The Makers Mark. 15 tunes played on 15 different guitars made by 15 different makers. It's really nice. I'd never really heard of him but he's a great finger stylist. Plays Celtic sort of stuff done in tunings. ![]() ![]() Danny |

I've become increasingly interested in the Gourmet Guitars DVD's. The online clips are interesting, leaving me wanting more. |

The StewMac string spacing rule. http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Tools/Measuring_tools/String_Spacing_Rule.html I don't know how I lived without it. Any of the OLF plans from StewMac http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Books,_plans/Plans.html A tub of Friendly Plastic. Great for making clamping cauls or routing templates. It's just plain fun to play with too. http://www.lmii.com/CartTwo/thirdproducts.asp?CategoryName=Specialty+Tools&NameProdHeader=Friendly+Plastic This file works really well for dressing fret ends. http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Tools/Special_tools_for:_Fretting/Fret_End_Dressing_File.html |
