After sanding the top back to bare wood twice .. (I really had a problem w/ mottling).. I'm finally finished with this one. The body is FP and the neck is TruOil. I really like this combination of woods and will definitely use them again. In the 5-line purfs I used end-grain Koa on either side of the yellow center and it really gave it a pop and even a "fuzzy" appearance in places. Head and Backplates, bindings and end-strip is Cocobolo. |

What a classy looking package you've put together there. The color palate is so complimentary, and top notch workmanship. |

Great looking guitar, Peter. I love the looks of the Tazzie blackwood! I have a couple of sets, but haven't used either yet. I'm wonderihng what kind of a flamenco it would make. What plan did you use for this build? Congrats', Max |

Hello Max.... great to hear from you. I think the Aussie Blackwood would make a killer flamenco with the right top... no doubt about it. I seem to remember seeing a Koa Conde for sale at Guitar Salon last year... so it's been done before (or close to it.) The body shape is that of Reyes but I made a few changes to the bracing; a Torres 7 - fan using a Ramirez upper diagonal transverse brace that terminates at the transverse brace under the sound hole and also added the two lower closing bars and went with solid mahogany linings. I used the Reyes bridge strip because I like the way it goes out to the extremes of the lower bout but tapers to only 0.010 at the ends. It sounds very Spanish; the trebles are rounded and sweet. Fairly decent bass but it doesn't have the greater depth of a Ramirez or Contreras. Good separation... I like it and if it wasn't sold already I'd probably keep it for myself... ![]() |

Thanks, Peter. Once again, that's just a stunning guitar. Maybe I'll build one out of Blackwood to take to Spain next year. BTW, would you be interested in getting together sometime in the near future? I'd love to talk guitars and flamenco if you have the time/interest. Thanks, Max |

Beautiful guitar Peter ! The wood combination is just so great to look at. You should make one for yourself ! If you make those cutoff bars lower(2mm tall) it can help with the bass responce. Keep up the great work. ![]() Mike |

What a lovely guitar. Allen pretty well summed up my thoughts in his comment. But let me ask what you think about that long bridge strip? I've never seen one like that--what do you suppose it does for the sound? Congrats, Steve |

Quite a pretty combination, well chosen! What is the width of the lower bout? |
