I know that in order to build an acoustic guitar I need a room thats humidity controlled. I was wondering since I dont have a room yet, is it ok to start the neck process in the mean time? I need something to do I'm having cold sweats thinking and reading about building lol. thanks yall. |

Its okay to build without humidity control, but monitoring the humidity closely and only building when it is within an acceptable range. 40-55%?? |

Hello Jonathon, I would get a humidity guage and see what you have in your place. Usually indoor humidity is ok for building. If you plan to build a guitar and it is going to stay where you built it you will not likely have any problems. If you send your guitar from New York to Arizona then you may see some trouble and/or want more control of the humidity. http://www.leevalley.com/wood/page.aspx?c=2&p=52641&cat=1,43456 I have this clock in my shop and monitor the humidity with it. It seems to work just fine. Don't let humidity worries stop you from building. Just monitor it and perhaps don't do much work at the most humid times. |

thats wonderfull. our place usually stays between 40-50% all winter. now I gotta find some mahogany. been having a little trouble finding a peice for the neck around here but my father just reminded me of a antique boat restore person that surely might have some. thank you |
