Hi All,

Those of you who specialize (or do more often than not) french polish as you choice of finish, do you finish the nech just like the body? I mean french polish the neck also?

I abandoned FP on the neck playing surface in favor of Danish Oil. I've been satisfied so far after 2 years experience.

TruOil on the neck........... much easier. Build up your finish; 5 - 6 coats, 0000 steel wool and wet sand w/ 1200; 5 - 6 coats and level again. Should be just fine by then.....

You can then FP the headstock and backplate (if you have one.)

If your intention is to FP the neck then yes the process is the same. I don't FP neck anymore. i finish all my neck anymore with medium viscosity Cyanoacrylate (super glue) it renders the slickest fastest neck finish I have found so far. Wears very well. polishes to a ulta high sheen or a satin sheen easily. i can have a neck finished, rubbed out and buffed out in 3-4 days ready to install
