These videos are great, John. The instruction style is good and relaxed, but you get all the information out there. It feels like being in your shop! These are the first thing I'd show anybody worried about their bending, but there's some great technique stuff in there for more experienced builders as well. |

Once again, John...Beautiful tutorial! I particularly found the "bus-driving" setup and tips most helpful. Many thanks to both you and Glen for providing this! ![]() ![]() |

Great! I have your side bender and the video's will be great to review just before I use it for the first time. Picked up some great tips from your binding video as well even though I have the luthier supply jig that is mounted to the router. Most of the video still applies though, thanks, Mike |

Thank you, John. You are a natural teacher. With you and Chris and Robbie keeping us on the path, more good guitars will result, and more second and third and on will be completed because they turn out as good instruments. Since I will be sending you the imbuia to bend for me, I got out my combination workboard/mold with stretchers and a central axle for my dishes. I have a hardened bushing in the board for rosettes and the perimeter drawn permanently on the board. My mold indexes on it with bolts and jig knobs -bolts go through the mold and into threaded inserts in the work board. I have a block that has a deep threaded insert for 1/2 x 13 and a long deheaded bolt is screwed in and becomes my steering post for driving the radius-dish bus. That block is also indexed to threaded inserts in the board and one end of threaded rod for each inner caul is inserted into that block and through- threaded star knobs push the cauls against waist, heel and tail blocks I contour and then flatten the same area of the top as you show. I'm asking you to bend for the slope dread 12 fret Martin BC mold I have, but with no profiling. I went into the above detail because it felt good to see that my rig was not completely off the wall. (sorry everyone) Like many, I fear binding too and have built a W-F, and bought the new StewMac vertical floating post and I have the "luthiers' tools" (7310)mounted. I have a 2nd 7310 to dedicate to the W-F-just need to make a donut and mount it. I could not bring myself to tie up my do-everything PC 310. Your videos offered a great deal of confidence building. Another thanks. Mike T. |

Very nice John! It's just like being in one of your classes. Your relaxed manner makes it easy to watch and understand. |
