Filippo, Here's one Hesh did. http://luthiersforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10117&t=21198&p=293976#p293976 I think Chris Paulick did a video tutorial on using tape for plate joining. Pat |

I'm gearing up for hot hide glue. I had recalled Frank's tutorial and went there. A little more reading would help-I went to "the other place" and read up there, but I am still hesitant. I tried a few econo heating methods, and then, even though $$ is tight, I invested in the real thing. I figured that with the choreography needed for avoiding the dreaded pre-assembly gel, I did not need other hurdles. I figured that $115 over a few years for less hassle was probably a reasonable choice for a real glue pot. I would be most interested in practical hints on batch storage and post-mix usable life. The dedicated pot did a nice job of preparation and held a reasonably steady 148* -I am assuming most folks do not make new daily-if some do, I would listen to advice there. Thanks, Mike |

I think someone said you can freeze hide glue but I havne't tried. I mix in small batches and I'll usually use it up in a couple weeks or less. It's not hard to mix. I use 20 grams of crystals, and 34 grams of water. I use 2 ounce bottles with a couple stainless steel nuts to add weight to the bottle and help hold heat. |

Mario freezes his in little cubes and I think Frank Ford does too. Check out Frets.com. Rival Hot Pot express is a cheap alternative glue pot that a lot of people use. http://www.amazon.com/Rival-4071-WN-32- ... 252&sr=8-1 viewtopic.php?f=10117&t=22533 |

Now I feel compelled to figure out something to cook with HHG. You know, there wasn't a great deal of TAS release with the glue pot. At least I won't get confused. It has a cool old time metal label that says "Glue Pot." ![]() |
