I just used plywood cauls on the sides with tape on them, to keep the glue from sticking. Seemed to work fine. |

1/8 inch dowels in the corners, the dowel in the lower left corner is hard to see because it's still in. Attachment: heel.JPG

You must be using titebond, the slippin'est glue around. Hide glue tacks real fast. Of course if you are looking for perfect alignment, you'll want dowels of some sort. |

somebody once showed me to do it sort of like a spanish heel, just run the whole stack through the tablesaw against the fence top to bottom with a very shallow cut in the excess, flip it and do the other side, then use a piece of sidescrap in each slot to keep things stable. I've never actually done it but it seemed to work for him... |

You could just glue the blocks on one at a time. I never had a problem with them sliding. |
