I'm looking for a greenish (think Statue of Liberty) inlay material that is consistent in color for my peghead. Paua and other Abalone has the striations of the different levels of the shell, so it's not the effect I'm looking for. Depaule Supply doesn't seem to carry it - does anyone have a source for other colored inlay materials for a custom peghead that I'm doing? Thanks. |

Take a look at the reconstituted stone at Rescue Pearl. There's some great looking stuff there. |

Sorry to hijack but I was just thinking about something similar. Where is the best place to buy shell online? For both selection and price. |

MOP Supplies is the best spot for shell on this side of the world. That was the first hit on google for shell inlay. Looks like a good site. A lot of people use them? |

Did you ever consider using copper for this statue of liberty inlay. |

Masecraft supply sells all the stone types, and has about 7-9 types of green. You'll need to thickness it yourself, but it all good stuff. Copper? It will be a bright orange/red/gold when sanded, and it won't turn green. Craig L |

I'll second that. There are plenty of places for shell. Andy Depaule is one and he ships 2 day which is nice. Rescue Pearl has some nice stuff from time to time on sale too. I like to always check with Dave Nichols of Custom Pearl Inlay for shell and Abalam too. He doesn't list it on his site but David is straight with you. I once was looking for some green select Abalam and he suggested some paua that had more green in it. I got it and he was right and it's great stuff for purfs. |
