Years ago I used water soluable stains under polymerized tung oil on mahogany without any problems. The stains were aquired from Lee Valley.Not sure if that's much help. |

You should be ok. You might want use a dewaxed shellac sealer coat over the dye. I usually seal my stains and dyes to possibly prevent bleading. But i don't think youl have a blead problem with the waterbased dyes. This is more a problem with solvent based dyes and stains. |

Just a warning, aniline dyes fade... Try Trans-tint instead. |

Tony, I haven't had that experience. Mohawk aniline dyes faded on me. I have used Trans-tint on my mandolins for years and have not had a problem with fading. I find them very easy to use, whether alcohol or water base and the colors are very useful. |
