I just got a Muyutoyo for cheap, $16.00, steel, used, 'broken case' I have seen lots of good deals if you need a pair: Dial calipers should get you in. Look at completed listings in:Advanced Search to see what stuff went for. Sad, can't find my other set, so I have to buy a 'spare', but spares are always good to have.

I am amazed how cheap precision measuring and setup equipment goes for on Ebay...

I got a Brown and Sharpe height gage for $5.00 -- great shape, but old
I got a 10" deep throat sheet metal mic for $20.00 (for measuring soundboards) -- great shape, but old
My brother got a nice 1" - 3" mic set for $20.00

My only caveat is that you gotta have some decent gage blocks to check them against.
but if you check them out and they read right +/- 0.001" or so... use them.

Thanks

John

I picked up a Muyutoyo calipers on ebay a couple of years back they were digital one though. I got them for $25 though. Great deal. My best deal on ebay though was a large thickness caliper that luthiers mercantile and others sell for about a $160 for $18. Found it in the metal working section. The person selling it really didn't know what it was. But i did!
