The time is almost here and I, like most of the 09 Healdsburg exhibitors, am busy putting the final touches on my guitars. I'm only bringing two this year, time delays and life sometimes get in the way of these things, but I've got high hopes for both of them. I'm dialing in on the vintage tone I'm looking for and these two are getting very close to where I want to be tonally. I'm using the next two days for final tuneup, setting the final action, and the myriad of other details to be done in getting guitars ready for public consumption. For those of you who've never been to Healdsburg or any of the other major shows (Montreal, Newport), it's quite an interesting experience. You'll meet all sorts of people, from the casual observer to the dedicated guitar enthusiast. For the most part the people are very gracious and are really interested in what the builders perspective is on the craft of lutherie. Here are a few pics of the two I'm bringing. The first is an 00-13 in Adirondack over Brazilian w/Snakewood appointments, 24.9" scale and a moderate amount of bling - abalone top border and partial vine inlay (Always a tough decision on show guitars). Attachment: 0013front1.jpg Attachment: 0013back.jpg Attachment: 00tail1.jpg Attachment: 0013headstock1.jpg The second guitar is Lutz over Amazon Rosewood w/Curly Koa trim. 25.4" scale with minimal bling. Short pattern diamonds and squares fingerboard and abalone torch headstock. Attachment: OMfront1.jpg Attachment: OMback1.jpg Attachment: OMheadstock1.jpg Attachment: OMbridge1.jpg I know there are quite a few builders here who are displaying at Healdsburg. I thought maybe one thread for everyone might make it a little easier for everyone to see all the talent on this forum. |

I hope the group can forgive me for my shameful somewhat non guitarmaking post, but I wanted to show you what I have already sent to LMII for the Healdsberg Guitar Festival. My company has printed or embroidered the shirts for the 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2009 festivals. And my craftsmen and craftswomen are very pleased with they way they have turned out each and every year. Since I am only an amateur luthier my "real job" helps me keep my hobby going as well as buying outrageously expensive wood. Just thought you might like a peek. Again, my apology for getting off subject. Ken |

Hi Peter, I sure hope to do so. We're supposed to have a photo shoot either Monday or Tuesday. (Photographer's call) Maybe we'll have some shots soon. Meanwhile--though I posted this once--here's a peek at the backs of two of them. Attachment: A 106.jpg Steve |

Very cool bracing Jim! Was that design after Jeff Elliot's design? I have seen a very similar pattern on one of his guitars. I'll definitely want to listen to it. |

Hi Peter. Yes, this is my adaptation of Jeff's design on my body. I've tried to follow it as closely as I could based on a few photos and a conversation with Jeff. And of course the bridge is the Elliot/Doolin design as well. |

I have been attentively looking at some of Jeff's soundboard bracing patterns and they do look interesting.I would love to see what it sounds like. I'll see ya at Healdsburg! ![]() |
