Many of you may remember that just over a year ago, I ran part of my hand through my re-saw. Well, one of our members, Bill Bergman, Sent me this little gift:

The book it self is an opportunity to get my hand back in shape but what was most incredible was the four full pages of type written advise that prefaced the book and the numerous photocopied pages with alternate fingerings and more advice inserted throughout the book! Hours of work went into this and I really just wanted Bill to know how much I appreciated that tremendously kind jesture! Bill, thanks again!!! [:Y:]

What makes this most timely is another unrelated event. John Greven has been getting top wood from me for about 3 years now. He has continously told me how much he likes the results of the guitars he builds with this wood and how I need to hear some of the finished guitars. We talked about him sending one of his "travelling" guitars that I could hear and see and one thing lead to the next which lead to this:

(sorry for the poor pics..)

We made arrangements for him to just put one of his great guitars together for me. All of the wood on this guitar, except the bindings and the bracewood (he likes dense adi bracewood), was supplied by me to showcase some of the wood I have. This guitar is his L-00v Custom model and is a DREAM to play (I just recieved it last night). It is loud and clear but is very new and needs to be played in. It weighs a mere 3.8 pounds including the K and K pickups installed. It is setup light and low for fingerpicking but I have used a pick with it as well and has no problem at all with that. It already sounds much better than my Alverez 6 string and I know it is going to really open up once it has a few miles on it. I will be working through Bill's instruction over the next few months and am really looking forward to it.

Just to make the guitar a little more of tradeshow instrument I asked Bob Garrish to produce this for the heel cap:

Bob does really great work as well!

So, thanks again to Bill, John and Bob. I now have something that shows the visual and acoustic potential of my products, will allow me to work through the fingerpicking tutorial that Bill put together and will generally just make me a "HAPPY GUY"!! bliss

Just thought I would share this with the rest of you!

Shane, that's one sweet guitar. I was really looking forward to see it since you told me about it when we met in Edmonton. Should you come to Edmonton again, maybe you could bring it along bliss

I was waiting for an opportunity to share here on the forum how we met, so here goes.

I guess many of you know how Shane goes the extra mile for his customers - well I really benefited from his business practice myself. I bought a couple of things from him on the Swap meet and from his website. Turned out that shortly after the swap meet, Shane was heading to Edmonton to spend a really busy day here. Nonetheless he kindly offered to bring all the items along so I would save shipping costs. So we met in one of his breaks during the day, had a nice 20 minutes chat, and I got all I bought without having to pay for shipping - needless to say that all of it was top notch.

So thanks so much again, Shane. I really really appreciated this and enjoyed the little time we could chat.

cheers, Christian

That is great, Shane! The guitar from John, the book and all the assistance from Bill, and the fact that you're pushing your hand to make it make music again.

Shane,

Congratulations on the new Greven. John's guitars are incredible and he's told me many times that he attributes a lot of his current sound to your Lutz spruce. I know you'll enjoy it for many years to come.

And speaking of Lutz, is the new batch of tops available yet? I'm just about out and need a few.

NICE Shane !!
The burst is subtle and beautiful.
The inlay is great!! ;maybe you should get some to sell to customers.
Just give it some timeand it'll open up.
Now comes the hard part-practice,practice-etc......

As someone already mentioned you go the extra mile for your customers !!

I agree with that statement also !!! [:Y:]

Very cool, Shane! And kudos to Bob and John.

I've only seen one Greven up close and it was a beauty. You're a lucky man!

Shane-

This makes me happy too! I have to echo everyone else who says you are a class act and all around great guy. Everytime I buy from you or just ask a question, you always go way out of your way to help.
Now, that Greven is just too cool for words. Enjoy it, you deserve it man. bliss

Couldn't happen to a nicer, or better person. Get your practicing nose to the grindstone, though it's hard to play that way! :D

Awe gosh guys  !! Thanks for all of the kind words....

I have a few tops around but there is waiting list for most them. I am looking at more logs right now and have one in the yard that I am about to open up and see what it is like. I will update on the forum if it looks like I can get some decent sets that will deal with the waiting list and get me back ahead of the game! (I have been behind for over a year and a half now!)

Thanks again all...I have to go home a strum a few cords now!

This is the first I get to see of the guitar, as well, and it sure is pretty! (I made two or three of the inlay and just sent them to John)

We need higher res pictures, Shane, I want to put my face up to my screen and squint! :)
