The recent StewMac catalog shows Mario's new venture...his Tortoloid Pickguards. Check it out http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Pickguards/Acoustic_guitar:_Pickguards/Tortoloid_Acoustic_Guitar_Pickguard.html I was able to to use one of his early prototypes on a 12-Srting SS Dred and love the look. They're quite thin and light yet still have that professional-looking bevel that makes all the difference IMO. Congratulations, Mario! I hope it becomes a successful venture. |

I forgot to include this in my original post: Attachment: Jack-Rosette & Bridge LD.jpg I am admittedly not a fan of pickguards but a Dred just seems to cry out for protection from errant flatpicks. |

Very cool looking pickguard. I wish Mario success with it. Quote: a Dred just seems to cry out for protection from errant flatpicks. I agree - this is the first guitar I ever bought (~20 years ago) and it's been with me on vacations, campfires, ... I just can't get myself to replace the top - even though it would be a nice repair project... ![]() ![]() Christian |

I'm hoping Mario will do a firestripe pattern, I'm in! Pat Foster wrote: Why replace it? I think it looks great! Pat Me too. It is the FIRST scratch that is the problem, after that, no problem. |

I agree about Mario's pickguards. If I ever build a steel string guitar, rather than nylon, that is what I'd use. |
