i know that this is an electric guitar but i figure pricing is a pretty general topic so i figured i would post it here. i guess im just really not sure how i should price things, i mean how much is to much? i don't want to sell myself short or anything, and i havent made to many instruments yet so i dont realy know what would be considered reasonable. if you ugys had made this or something similar how much would you try and get for it? its a neck thru, and its a got a redwood burl top.

Pricing your own stuff is harder than building it, I think. You have to keep track of all (and I mean all) your costs, and your time, and comparisons to other guitars, and what the market will bear, and your reputation.
It is your job, and no one can do it for you.

Couldn't even begin to help you with pricing on this Shad because I don't build electrics (yet :D ). But I can say it's a beautiful instrument. I really like the body shape. It like like a royal shield. [clap]

My opinion? If it is top quality, say comparable to a $3000-5000 PRS, no bo-bo's, good playability, great tone and sustain, then I would ask about 70% of the street price of a comparable, recognized name guitar.

Once you are an established name then whatever the market will bare.

If it is less than outstanding playability, great tone and sustain, or has bo-bo's, then I would charge cost to build plus a modest sum, maybe one or two hundred.

Just my opionion of course.

Good Luck,
Joe
