I have a Crafstman bandsaw that I use to cut up neck blanks, soundboards and other stuff, no resawing. Its a 89 1/2" blade. The Craftsman replacement blades are pretty crappy and get dull very quickly. What would you guys recommend? I looked at Lenox but not sure which one would be best for what I'll use it for. 3TPI ? 10TPI? Carbon?

I only use two blades on my 14 delta ... 3/16-10tpi, and a 1/2-3tpi. both from R&D bandsaws here in Canada .. I like their industrial steel model, hardended front and back ... something similar is made by Timberwolf I believe, about the same bucks

I got four blades from Suffolk earlier this year, Timberwolf. They still have a 3 for 4 deal. As I just put in my post on cutting up some African Blackwood, Coco and Ziricote; I fully expected to dull a blade in the process, but its still sharp. I used the 3/4" AS-S. I also have a 3/4" VPC that I haven't tried out yet and two 1/4"-6PC that I use for detail work. I'm happy with them.

Peter this is the Lenox Blade I use for cutting neck blanks and much more. Good all around blade that should last you a long time.

Thanks guys!

I think I'll try the 3/8" Lenox. Not sure if I should get 3, 4 or 6 TPI....

I would go with the 5 TPI for general bandsawing.

Peter I think 3/8" is too wide to cut that radius at the heel of the neck. You would need an awful lot of relief cuts to negotiate that curve.

I actually meant to type 6 tpi. And i prefer a 1/4" blade. Bobs right about the 3/8" in cutting some curves. 1/4" is an all around good general blade.
