All, I'm getting ready to send #2 off to Joe for finish, and I've become obsessively paranoid about hidden glue lines/smears that will come to life under the finish. The guitar is primarily built using LMII glue, with a bit of titebond and CA here and there (bindings, rosette, etc...). I used zipflex for the rosette and purling, and initially glued it into the channel with LMI glue, and then went back over and filled in the channel with thin CA afterwards (the LMI glue didn't really adhere to it well anyway). Anyway, to my question. Is there any way to detect glue smears or glue lines that might not be obvious to the naked eye? Rick Davis turned me on to DeGlue Goo, which is great for removing any PVA/PVC/White/Yellow glue once you find it. Tips/Suggestions? |

A coat of shellac and a bright sunny day, I guess. The out in the sun part is really good for detecting those tiny scratches and dings anyway. They tend to be invisible indoors. |

Wipe it down lightly with mineral spirits the glue spots will show up. then sand them away. |
