Well, since I returned from my extended ASIA trip, we took an extra week getting back home, and my Daughter-in-law delivered my first Grandson, Picture and sound clip in Off topic Forum, HERE, I have been fairly busy in the shop. Since #2 came out of the solera and reached a stopping point, I have now begun the assembly of #3. Here is the top, before bracing. Attachment: P1010978 (Large).JPG Gluing in the braces. Attachment: P1010984 (Large).JPG Shaving the edges of the fan and finger braces. Attachment: P1020004 (Large).JPG Fan, finger, and closing braces all shaped. Attachment: P1020006 (Large).JPG All bracing done. Ready for sides and neck. Attachment: P1020020 (Large).JPG I was going to try using a blanket, but I just decided to hand bend the sides for this guitar. Bubinga, but not very much figure. Only had a couple of tiny cracks, where some figure was, and they were fixed with CA, easily. Here are the sides waiting to be fitted to the top in the solera. Attachment: P1020028 (Large).JPG The form is used for fitting the sides as I bend. It's a good template for an initial fit. They take a little tweaking to get right with the top, in the solera, though. Here are the sides being fitted to the top. Attachment: P1020030 (Large).JPG And, last but not least, trimmed to fit, comfortably, in the neck slot. Next, I have to cut the rebate for the top, in the neck, pre-shape the heel, both outside and inside, and make some wedges to lock the sides in. Thanks for looking. Lets see your progress now! |

Since these were taken I've finished the end of the fretboard, sanded, and started finishing. It is so nice to be to this point! ![]() Attachment: Top.JPG Attachment: Back.JPG

Looking good, Steve. You'll be stringing it up before long. |

Thanks, I hope so. If my first few look half as good as yours then I'll be a very happy guy! |
