Yup....

Since I'm BREAKING EEVVEERRYYTTHHIINNGGGGG!!!!!!!....and having to find ways to FIX THEM cuz I've already broken the PREVIOUS 3 OR 4 of whatever I'm currently breaking!!!!

[headinwall] [headinwall] [headinwall]

gaah gaah gaah

I was milling the saddle slot in this really nice bridge (the one where the bridge pin holes actually ended up WHERE THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO BE!!!).......

...AND THE DOUBLE STICK TAPE COMES LOOSE AND THE BIT WANDERS ALL OVER THE BRIDGE!! I promise you....no saddle stood a chance.

So I milled out a slot with a 5/16 router bit and FRESH DOUBLE STICK TAPE....and filled it with a nice piece of African Blackwood.

Great job Chris ! Anyone looking at it will think you meant it to be "custom." [:Y:] The Blackwood with the IRW makes for a good contrast. Nicely done.

Ya know Chris. If you had put a piece of maple in there and then the black wood, you'd have a nice purfling line and a new design feature.

Dan Erlewine didn't start off a pro. I'm sure he made many mistakes getting where he is. I read an article where he claimed to have used plaster of paris to plug up an extra pickup whole someone routed in what he believes to be a true Gibson Moderne. I at least had the professionalism idunno to use elmers wood putty when i did something similar years ago. Mine was just a measly tele and not the Holy grail of guitars. Hopefully you will learn by these mistakes. I know i have with mine. Your patch job actually looks like something you planned. Very good!...Mike

Good save.

That's some sweet work Chris. [:Y:] As was mentioned before, looks like it was part of the original design.

Snatched from the jaws of death! Great save, Chris. Will you make this a trademark feature? Over the years, rumors will become dogma, and the future generations of luthiers will argue over the degree of improvement in midrange response in the "Rosewood Composite Sniggly Bridge."

laughing6-hehe laughing6-hehe

I've been discovered!!!!!

Yes..I am actually attempting to create yet ANOTHER junk science principle. One that will cause future generations to do exactly what we do when words like Somogyi and Titebond come up.

Dudes and Ladies - I only wish I had that kind of devious brain capacity.

This guitar should see strings and get her voice this week...so we shall see!

Off to the Lab of Madness.

Great work Chris, and hey, if the bridge ends up not working out, it looks like it would make a great computer accessory! :)

Not to be a bummer but it looks like a patch to me.

Good save. I hope that you glue the bridge in the right spot!

Chris I agree with you 100 percent. It does look like a patch....and I'm sure I don't like it. Only thing stopping me from making a new one is money. It's Mad Rosewood...not cheap. Should have done prototyping in plywood but I had a stupid fit and wasted 3 good bridge blanks getting to this design...and there are still changes I'd like to make. Until people are actually paying for these guitars...patching will have to do.

Have you seen my bridge jig YouTube? Make a clam shell jig. It doesn't take that long once you have the ruff shape done and then you can put out a bridge in 1/2 hour or less and that includes cutting the blank.

I agree it looks fine and when its on the guitar with a saddle in it under strings it will be so much less of an issue
